PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

Preschool intervention services are important to identify, evaluate and educate as early as possible those children whose healthy development is compromised and provide for appropriate intervention to improve child and family development.


Considerations in choosing a preschool program may include: classroom type - self-contained, integrated, mainstream; length of program - full or half day; extended school year availability; classroom ratio; classroom models and philosophical orentiaton - ABA, TEACCH, Floortime, Developmental, Family-Centered, Multidisciplinary, Eclectic; related services - speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, play therapy, nursing; augmentative and alternative communication options - sign language, PECS, communication devices; and parent education services.
