ABA Program 2 – Teacher and Therapist Training
Purpose To provide free, intensive and high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior (VB) training to teachers and therapists working with children on the autism spectrum, with focus on language development, natural environment teaching, discrete trial teaching and behavior reduction protocols. The goal of the training is to assist participants in becoming familiar with the principles of behavior and proficient in the application of best practice ABA and VB techniques.
Population Available to professionals who provide special or educational instruction to children with autism spectrum disorders, including special education teachers and teacher aides or assistants (either school- and center-based or itinerant) and early intervention therapists. Ten to fifteen clinicians will participate in each training.
Services Participants in the training program will receive 13 hours of intensive ABA and VB training. This program is provided at no cost to the participants. The two-day workshop consists of lectures, video and live demonstrations, and opportunities to practice the skills taught. Primary focus will be on verbal behavior and language development in both natural and more structured settings.
Schedule Weekday workshops will be held once per month from 9am to 5pm. Dates for 2009 are January 5-6; February 2-3; March 5-6; April 6-7; May 4-5; June 4-5; July 6-7; August 3-4; September 3-4; October 5-6; November 2-3; December 3-4.
