ABA Program 5 – Individual Consultation and Assessment
Purpose To provide free, high-quality and individualized ABA training to families of children on the autism spectrum. Participants will receive a private consultation where the child will be given an ABLLS evaluation (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills). Participants will receive a specifically-tailored Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) for their child based upon the assessment and will be trained on how to teach the goals recommended in the ITP.
Population Available to families who have a child on the autism spectrum from 12 months to 12 years. Parents may bring up to three teachers or therapists currently working with the child to the consultation. In general, participants will be scheduled on a first-come basis. Up to thirty-six families will participate annually.
Services Participants in the program will receive a total of 8 hours of private, one-to-one ABA training, focusing on general behavioral principles as well as child-specific needs. This program is provided at no cost to the participants. On-Site Consultation with Assessment (1 5-hour session): each family will receive an individual consultation during which time the child will be given an ABLLS evaluation. An ITP with specific teaching procedures will be created based upon the assessment. Parents will be trained on how to teach the goals recommended in the ITP and how to track their child’s progress. In-Home Application Training (2 1.5-hour sessions): each family will have multiple opportunities to practice the skills taught with their child in the home environment.
Schedule Weekday consultations will be held intermittently throughout the year from 9am to 2pm. The in-home application trainings will take place within eight weeks following the consultation.
