MEDICAID COORDINATION AND WAIVER SERVICES

What is Medicaid Service Coordination?

Medicaid Service Coordination (MSC) is a program for individuals who are eligible for Medicaid and New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) services.  MSC provides advocacy, planning, and coordination of services for individuals.

What is the Home and Community Based Services Waiver?

Services such as Residential Habilitation, Respite Care, environmental modifications (e-mods), and some day programs are funded through an individual’s enrollment in the Home and Community Based Services Waiver (HCBS Waiver).  The HCBS Waiver waives family income restrictions for Medicaid and allows Medicaid to pay for the above-listed services.

Who provides these services?

The Developmental Disabilities Service Office (DDSO) of OMRDD provides services and oversees the agencies that provide Medicaid Service Coordination, Residential Services, Day Programs, and Family Support Services.  The DDSO also determines an individual’s eligibility for these services.
