ABA
101 Mini-Course
Parents, therapists, educators
and other service providers are invited to attend a comprehensive mini-course
designed to familiarize participants with the fundamental principles and
everyday application of ABA and how
to incorporate those principles across home, school and community environments.
- Module
1: Overview of ABA
- an introduction into the science of ABA,
its basic principles and how it works with learners of all ages and
developmental levels.
- Module
2: Reducing Problem Behaviors - how to conduct a functional assessment
and use it as a basis for creating successful behavior intervention plans,
including basic programs addressing typical problematic behaviors.
- Module
3: Effective Teaching Procedures - essential ABA
instructional techniques and methods including prompting and fading, shaping,
modeling, task analyses and chaining, graduated guidance and errorless
teaching.
- Module
4: Discrete Trial Training and Verbal Behavior I - how to conduct a
discrete trial in both the natural and more structured teaching
environments; introduction to verbal behavior and how to teach vocal and
non-vocal learners to communicate.
- Module
5: Verbal Behavior II and Data Collection - teaching intermediate and
advanced communication skills; ways to structure and organize programs
and materials, and how to take effective data.
